Hi, welcome back! Today this week we have been starting PBL skill classes for the other class to make there projects better and improve! Because our class has been using Stop Motion Studio app on the ipads we thought we would share what we know with students from other classes so they can use the same in their projects. Our plan is to hold these training sessions every Friday 7th oeriod. The first was last week and it was for 2 students from each 5th grade class.
I talked to our fellow peers whom are teaching this skill class last week and this week! (: I have asked Brianna and Jordalys What do they specifically teach? They had both answers: Stop motion! What is your favorite part about stop motion? Brianna: Seeing Kids faces after they had learned and making sure they use those skills in class! How do you personally feel about teaching, will this teaching impact you to teach in the future? Both: No, way! Brianna: I wanna become a lawyer. Jordalys: I also wanna a professional fortnite player! C:
If you want to join us, be sure to sign up at lunch on Fridays!

Hi, welcome back! (:
We haven't been active lately due to winter break/new year’s. However, once we came back we had a huge surprise! .....a New Teacher! Ms. McKenna.
Ms. McKenna is new to our Ps.376 community. She was leaving because she was Mr. Smith's teaching fellow and her class was over. :( sad.....but thanks to our school staff they had a spot for her, which was in our classroom!!! We were all so shocked and excited!
That’s not all, My peers (fellow Bloggers) have been working on there blog’s too! Go ahead and check their’s out.......
In Jordaly’s blog she is sharing all were doing in PBL. In PBL we are doing stop motion. Don’t know what stop motion is? Well, Its like draw my life but, you would have to draw the background and the objects in the background, and cut them out. Then when we have all the parts done, we will animate it using the app and at the end we will have a movie! Anyways, next we started choosing sounds for the background as well as recording voices. Also, don't forget to check out our Spanish PBL Blogger, Omar, who writes about what we are doing in PBL.
Moving on to ELA which is Joshua’s blog, he writes about all we are doing in ELA and how we're using the ready books to find the main idea of a story. This week were studying a text about plants and stars.
Moving on to Brianna’s blog she writes about how we are working on point of view and explaining the strategies we use.
Justin, our Math blogger, is explaining multi-step problems and he even made a problem just for you! You can try to solve it and then write your answer in the comments and he will let you know if you got it right or not next week! How fun!
And for our last companion, our Writing blogger, Michael is explaining how character traits work between two texts and talking about the new text packet we started this week.
Until next post....
Hello, Welcome back!
This week in our school, the student council elections results came out. And the last two days we have been taking the ELA ready assessment. That's basically what is new in our school this week.
It is very important to us to take the ELA ready test. It's a way we get prepared for the state test turns out the state test is easier than the practice crazy, right?
Our student bloggers have posted something new this week! Feel free to check there blog out! (: In Jordalys blog she asked questions to all the group asking “What is your favorite application/project this year?" Lots of answers were based on there project. In Joshua’s blog he talks about ants which was what we were studying this week. In Brianna’s blog she talks about socratic seminar. Don't know what a socratic seminar is where we get in a circle and talk about a topic sometimes we argue and sometimes we don't. Justin known to be as the “Mathematician” talks about fractions, division, multiplication, and common denominator! Michael talks about Venice, Italy. And Omar talks about the new projects we are starting in PBL.
Each week I will be interviewing someone who is important to our school. Today I interviewed Ms. Gladys Badillo. Here is what we talked about...
SPECIAL GUEST INTERVIEW: MS. BADILLO
Q: What is your job title?
Ms. Badillo: I'm the business manager.
Q: How long have you been working at P.S. 376?
Ms. Badillo: I've been here for 22 years!
Q: What is your favorite part of your job?
Ms. Badillo: I love helping people!
Q: What is your least favorite part of your job?
Ms. Badillo: I don't have one. I love my job!
Q: What does the Student Council do?
Ms. Badillo: They make decisions when it comes to graduation, prom, how money is spent, new programs and they also do volunteer work.
Q: Why is it important for our school to have a Student Council?
Ms. Badillo: It is important because without the Student Council they cant give kids opinions and we need their opinion for their own education.
Q: What are you most looking forward to this year?
Ms. Badillo: I am looking forward to seeing changes that come and to see kids to move on and do better things for themselves.
I loved Ms. Badillo's response about giving students opinions. This is really fair!
See who I interview next week!
Hello! My name is Merlin! I’m eleven years old.
I’m going to be your social blogger covering all things PS 376 news-related and filling you in on all the special things we do in our school outside of just classroom work.
This week, we began battling it our for votes. We have a group called “The Student Council’.’ Four students from 5th grade get picked to be President, Vice President or Treasurer, also Secretary! We had to write letters and make resumes if we wanted to run. I am running for President and I hope I win!
Also, a few days ago we started a “Student Blog,” that you are reading now! Kids write one post each week for each subject. For example, Jordalys writes about PBL. Be sure to check out her blog where she wrote about our PBL unit on Sequoia Forest. Brianna she writes about Close Reading and talked about the articles we read! The same for Justin. Justin is like a pro in math and he is good at mostly everything! Check out his math blog for all the numbers. Joshua M. does the same thing except for he writes about ELA. This week go read his blog about sloths in the rainforest. Then we have Michael who writes about writing. And finally, we have our Spanish blogger, Omar who also covers PBL, but in Spanish!
This is our blog and I hope you enjoyed. Stay tuned for more!
